FRESNO, Texas — A girl who was sexually assaulted though jogging in Fresno helped guide investigators to the man charged in the assault, the Fort Bend County sheriff claimed Wednesday.
Maleek Jamal Tristan, 19, was charged with sexual assaulting soon after confessing, in accordance to Sheriff Eric Fagan.
The assault occurred in the Estates of Teal Run on the afternoon of March 22. The female, who’s in her 40s, was jogging close to the retention pond at the rear of the neighborhood recreation center when she was tackled and assaulted.
The sufferer was able to give a superior description of her attacker and worked with an HPD sketch artist. When the sketch was unveiled, a number of ideas determined the suspect as Tristan, Fagan explained.
He said Tristan surrendered on May possibly 28 for unrelated warrants and attempted to disguise his identification by slicing off his hair, but it failed to operate. The target was capable to establish Tristan in a photograph lineup.

The sheriff mentioned sexual assaults are a priority for his section and he credited committed detectives for their operate in this situation.
“This was brazen, this occurred in wide daylight, this occurred on a going for walks trail. We wished to hurry up and execute this warrant for this arrest to give back again the basic safety in that group.”
He reported they are hunting at the probability that Tristan was involved in related scenarios, but no other information have been given and he is only billed in the Fresno case.
His bond was set at $150,000.
